Change of Life

February 12, 2026

One of the things Trudy and I made a conscious choice about when we started CroneCast was that we weren’t going to focus on menopause on the show. Not because it’s not an important topic, but because so many other authors, podcasters and social media influencers are doing such a good job educating women about it, demystifying it, and laughing/crying about it.

If you’re a regular listener of CroneCast, you know I’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. Because of the type of breast cancer I have, I had to stop hormone replacement therapy. The lovely spa that was estrogen/progesterone shuttered its doors and left me sweaty, emotional and awake. But it also caused me to remember what my mother called menopause: “the change of life.”

I actually like that phrase. And it’s got nothing to do with menopause. We wanted to do this podcast to rewrite the script that tells older women to be quiet, stay out of the way and not be greedy for accomplishment or fulfillment that we apparently no longer require.

As crones, we say 🖕🏻 to that. CroneCast is about the change of life after 50. The change that means we stop caring what others think of us. The change that means we say no with a period at the end (that pun truly was unintended). The change that means we treat ourselves like our own best friend. The change that means we stop saying it’s too late because we’re actually right on schedule. Our lives change because…finally…we can become our whole glorious selves.

No apologies. No regrets. We ride at dawn.
